Plain Language
Our AI is designed to translate complex medical terminology into clear, understandable language, making health information accessible regardless of medical literacy level.
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements are fully operable via keyboard. We implement visible focus indicators to ensure users can navigate the platform without a mouse or touch screen.
Visual Accessibility
WCAG-compliant colour contrast ratios, scalable typography, and clear visual hierarchy ensure content is readable for users with low vision or colour blindness.
Screen Reader Support
Semantic HTML structure with ARIA labels and roles ensures screen readers can accurately interpret page content, navigation, and dynamic state changes.
Responsive Design
The platform is fully responsive and functional across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Content reflows properly when zoomed up to 200% without loss of functionality.
Predictable Navigation
Consistent page structure, logical heading hierarchy, and predictable interaction patterns ensure users never lose context when moving between sections of the platform.
Voice-First Health Education
Our Voice AI Companion and Kura Guide provide real-time, two-way voice conversations about health results in 74 languages. Kura Guide, our persistent AI companion, is accessible via both text chat and voice, ensuring users with visual impairments, low literacy, motor disabilities, or auditory preferences can engage with their health education continuously. Transcripts are generated in real-time for dual-mode access.
1. Compliance Standard
KuraPath targets conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.2 AA is the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility and is referenced by the Australian Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA).
We are committed to ongoing evaluation and improvement to maintain and enhance our accessibility standards.
2. Measures We Take
KuraPath takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:
- Accessibility is a core requirement in our design and development process;
- We use semantic HTML5 elements (header, nav, main, section, article, footer) throughout the platform;
- All interactive elements include descriptive ARIA labels and roles where native semantics are insufficient;
- Form fields include associated labels and clear error messaging;
- Images include descriptive alt text;
- Colour is never used as the sole means of conveying information;
- Animations respect the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query where applicable; - Focus management is maintained during dynamic content changes;
- All pages have a single, properly structured heading hierarchy.
3. Legal Framework
Our accessibility commitment is informed by:
- Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth): Australian federal legislation that prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability, including in the provision of goods and services. The Australian Human Rights Commission has confirmed that websites and web applications are covered by the DDA;
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2: The internationally recognised W3C standard, referenced as best practice under the DDA;
- Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002: While not directly applicable, we reference the DDA's broader accessibility principles;
- UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD): Ratified by Australia, which recognises the right of persons with disabilities to access information and communications technology.
4. Known Limitations & Roadmap
While we strive for comprehensive accessibility, we are aware of the following limitations and are actively working to address them:

5. Compatible Assistive Technologies
KuraPath is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers: VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows), TalkBack (Android);
- Voice control: macOS Voice Control, Windows Speech Recognition;
- Keyboard navigation: Full operability via standard keyboard;
- Browser zoom: Content scales correctly up to 200% zoom;
- High contrast modes: Content remains readable in operating system high contrast modes;
- Voice AI: Real-time conversational health education in 74 languages, providing an alternative input/output modality for users who cannot use text-based interfaces. Voice transcripts are generated for dual-mode access.
6. Testing & Continuous Improvement
We are committed to continuously improving accessibility through:
- Regular automated accessibility testing during development;
- Manual testing with assistive technologies;
- Incorporating accessibility considerations into our user feedback process;
- Staying current with evolving WCAG guidelines and accessibility best practices;
- Reviewing accessibility when introducing new features or making significant changes to existing ones.

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 7 business days. Where a barrier is identified, we will provide information on alternative ways to access the affected content while we work on a fix.
